AGAINST NINE REALMS

Chapter 2: The Four Perils (2)

Luoshi Continent, Shangyuan Realm.

(ROAR!)

A party of four mythical beasts can be seen escaping for their lives while over a thousand experts pursuing closely behind them. The four looked greatly different from those threading across the land, especially in size, appearance, uniqueness, and cultivation strength.

These four mythical beasts were a part of those known to be the purest bloodline across the Nine Heavenly Realms.

The word ”nine realms ” is a paraphrase to describe the nine major worlds in this universe. It consisted of Shangyuan, Xiayuan, Xingyuan, Xiangyuan, Tianyuan, Tuyuan, Haiyuan, Renyuan, and Shouyuan.

(Authors Note: Upper / Lower / Elemental / Direction / Sky / Earth / Sea / Human / Beast)

There are multiple other realms outside the nine. Unfortunately, they are excluded due to their nominal size, the concentration of Universal Qi, resources, and so on.

”Alliance Leader! Can we at least know why we
e hunting the four beasts? ” one of the more daring cultivators asked. Unlike the others who simply listened and obeyed their orders, he was slightly curious.

In fact, the pursuit of the four beasts had been going on for an entire week. This Shangyuan Realm was actually their third destination after escaping from two other realms before this.

This cultivator even heard that a few dynasties and thousands of cities had vanished. The total number of lost lives was between millions for cultivators and billions of regular people without cultivation.

”We do not have the privilege to ask. And even if you did, do you think the Realm Masters would answer the question? Just keep chasing and continue to weaken them before they escape to another continent. This will be all we have to do until we have further orders. ” said the Alliance Leader.

Although they addressed him as the Alliance Leader, he knows it was merely a minor role in front of the real experts.

Swords and blades continuously followed and injured the four beasts. But no matter how fierce the human cultivators struck, none of the injuries were deep enough to deliver the killing blow.

With the mere ability of a regular Heaven Tier Experts, bleeding the four beasts is all they
e capable of. A proper Late Heaven Expert is still required if they want to keep the beast here.

”Just attack after me, ” the voice of an expert soon comes to their ears as an individual descent from the sky with a two meters long flying sword below his foot. In his left hand was a Yinyang Compass used for tracking, and on his right, a whisker brush made from durable but soft material harvested from some monsters.

Everything on his body carried the smell of money.

”Its the second elder from Xuanyuan Formation School, Elder Feng. With him around, we are definitely capable of keeping the beasts here until other realm experts arrive. ” a few cultivators in the front said with a look of delight.

”Listen to me, everyone! Continue with your bombardment, and let me help keep these animals here. ” Elder Feng calmly responded. But he was actually smiling deep inside and currently filled with pleasure.

After finishing his words, Elder Feng simply flicked his finger and withdrew the Yinyang Compass in his hand. His fingers spatial ring remained lit until a jade seal appeared in his hand.

Once the jade seal was brought out from his storage space, the elder immediately funneled some Heavenly Qi into the treasure to produce its might.

”Thats the Xuan Emperor Seal. Ive seen the treasure once a few years back! It was when the second elder led some experts to slay the Mountain Trampling Fierce Ape. ” a cultivator immediately pointed at the treasure in Elder Fengs hand.

”Indeed, fellow cultivator. This is indeed the Xuan Emperor Seal, one of the three priceless treasures of our Xuanyuan Formation School. ” the second elder nodded at the cultivator while enjoying the sense of fulfillment. He looked incomparably proud as he raised the jade seal higher.

Soon, the cloud in the sky gathered as they materialized into a single palm in midair. It seemed so vivid and realistic, like a true god delivering a judgment from afar.

(Huh… Smelly humans… They actually chased us nonstop from one place to another. Was the lesson in Renyuan and Tuyuan Realm insufficient to make them give up the pursuit?)

One of the four mythical beasts, known as QiongQi, roared in anger as it was continuously provoked by the human that isn afraid of death. Unfortunately, while it understands mans language, no human can understand the primordial language used by the beast to communicate.

They could only comprehend it as a few roars, dying woes, and losing cries. The more noises QiongQi made, the more ecstatic the human cultivators seemed. They assumed that the four beasts were getting weaker every second.

”Let me make an example from one of them! ” Elder Feng yelled and swung his hand down. The jade seal in his hand followed closely in his grasp as it pointed at QiongQi.

The gigantic palm formed with cloud came down with a pressure akin to the sky falling. The air friction between QiongQi and the palm made the hand look like a fiery palm coming down to incinerate the worlds filth.

If QiongQi dodged the attack, this palm strike alone would destroy the mountain and cities underneath the beasts foot without a doubt.

(Yum! So many Heavenly Qi is in this attack. I wonder if it would be delicious?)

Another mythical beast suddenly interrupted as it flew back to QiongQis side and opened its mouth wide.

[Ferocious Devourer!]

A black hole appeared in between.

There were no explosions, destruction, or any mess aftermath. But the cultivators were shown with an unbelievable scene instead. They witnessed how Elder Feng was devoured by the mystical beast, along with his attack and the treasure.

(Burppp…)

A burp followed as the other monster, which had no physical body, but merely a flying head left. The four mythical beasts quickly escaped, while the humans were still shaken by the process.

”What happened? ” a cultivator asked and turned his head around. He quickly realized what had transpired earlier and why it was eerily quiet around him.

It seemed that the mythical beast not only ”devoured ” the move itself but also Elder Feng and those within reach of the black hole. He was the sole survivor on the frontline, thanks to his treasure which had a hint of spatial law.

Weirdly, many useless garments are still flying in the sky. These include robes, cloaks, and even male and female underwear. From what the cultivator notices, these garments were all made from mortal quality material, meaning no hint of Qi can be found on them. This means the mythical beast had swallowed everything with a touch of Heavenly or Earthly Qi.

Furthermore, it claimed that whatever it devoured barely filled the stomach. But since no cultivators could understand the primordial language, it went off like a simple roar from the beast as they left.

(These smelly humans… If they dare to block us again, Ill slaughter all of them and dye this sea with their blood)

QiongQi roared unhappily.

(These cultivators are too pitiful. So many of them fell into my stomach, yet barely comparable to a mouthful of the mountain I took a bite earlier…)

The mythical beast without a physical body complained. Its name was TaoTie, which represents Greed and Glutton. It was the fastest amongst the four but also the weakest as all it could do was eat and eat even more.

(Umm… Dun! HunDun! HunDun!)

The one flying in front and leading them was trying to say something to the others, but it couldn speak because it had no head to make the sound.

All there was to this mythical beast was a sky-towering body of a bear, but with six legs and four wings. Even the proposition and how the limbs grew was a mess, making it unsure if it was moving forward or backward.

(What are you trying to say, HunDun?)

The mythical beast called QiongQi asked while TaoTie looked around for something interesting for a bite. Out of them, the fourth and final beast, Taowu, was the quietest as it stood in a daze, unsure if it was daydreaming or feigning ignorance.

(Dun! Dun! Dun!!!)

HunDun hopped around like a floating dumpling in the air. It seemed to be trying to say something but was unable to do so.

(HunDun said we
e lost…)

Suddenly, TaoWu interrupted QiongQi when the latter tried to guess what HunDun wanted to say. But it quickly returned to its ignorance and stood still like a tree stump.

(Lost? I thought you know where we
e going, and thats why all of us are following you?)

QiongQi roared. It had completely forgotten that it was the loudest out of the four, and its voice could be heard hundreds of miles away.

(QiongQi, HunDun doesn have a head. How can you expect it to guide us in the correct direction?)

TaoTie interrupted. Feeling its stomach emptier after speaking, it went down to sea level and took in a few mouthfuls of seawater. This was a simple act of eating something. Still, when it was done by TaoTie, it is estimated that a few islands and over a hundred million fishes were gone into the bottomless stomach.

All of these would vanish for eternity, and even TaoTie had no idea where the thing it swallowed would go.

(Shut the hell up. Unlike HunDun, you have a head. Why are you not leading the way back to our hideout then? Furthermore, where the hell did those things you eat go?)

QiongQi howled. The noise it created was like a tracking beacon to humanity.

”The four perils of our Nine Realms! Its great that you
e gathered here! Today, none of you will leave alive! ” said a cultivator as he descended from the sky with his four companions.
