Chad Berkley assisted in hosing down the Vaud siblings, getting them clean enough to gain entry to the bathroom inside his house. While doing this, he noticed something strange about Silvia. For certain she and her brother looked like they were out of their territory of familiarity, but the peculiarity I mentioned was more of a supernatural one.

Whenever the water touched Silvias skin, the residual droplets seemed as though they were being attracted to the centre of her body where they later evaporated swiftly. Due to Chads incessant staring at Silvias abdomen, she thought that he was having lascivious cravings for her body and turned away.

”Do you mind not staring so much? You
e making me feel uncomfortable. ”

”Huh! ” Chad just now realized how the situation must have seemed. He hurriedly averted his eyes and apologized. ”Sorry, I ah… I didn mean to stare. Its not what you think. I was just looking at your… ah… never mind. ”

Chad didn know how to clarify his intention for being caught eyeing Silvias body so he avoided it altogether. He turned off the water, disconnected the hose and began directing the siblings to the rear entrance of his house which wasn that far away from the barn.

”Follow me. ” As he led the way, Chad glanced behind him and saw Amich glaring at him while he hid behind his sisters thighs. Due to Silvias clothing being soaking wet, he couldn avoid admiring the slightly visible erogenous areas of her body.

”Huh! ” When he noticed Amich covering his sisters loins with the pouch, Chad averted his eyes again and spoke, ”I get the feeling your brother hates my guts. ”

”Amich doesn hate you. Hes just overprotective of me is all. ” Silvia rubbed her brothers hair to make him feel more comfortable.

”If you say so. ” Chad brought the siblings inside his home and showed them to the guest bathroom. ”Theres an empty basket inside that you can put the old clothes into. Ill see if I can find you both something suitable to wear. ”

Chad ran upstairs to search his closet for clothing that could fit Silvia and Amich. ”I still have some of my old clothe from when I was a kid somewhere in here. ”

While chad was busy with his search, Silvia settled in the bathroom with her brother. ”Is this where future folks performed their ablutions? ”

The décor of the bathroom was unfamiliar to Silvia, she had to use her keen sense of discernment to figure out the use of the toilet and how to operate the shower. She learnt how to interact with the faucet after watching chad outdoors earlier. The toilet gave her a bit of trouble though. When she discovered the flush functionality, Amich played with the nob until he emptied the tank. He waited until it was full before he start playing with it again.

”Thats enough Amich. You might break it. ” Silvia had to get her brother to stop messing around with the bathroom appliances; she feared upsetting the young man who was kind enough to invite them into his modern century home. Shortly after she got Amich to behave, they heard Chad approaching from outside.

”Hey, Silvia Ive found some fresh clothes that can fit you and your brother. Im leaving them here. ” He placed the clothes on a basket cover beside the bathroom door. ”Ill be outside if you need me. ” He left the house to go clean up the mess in the barn.

When she sensed that Chad had left, Silvia forced the door ajar and picked up the new clothes. She and her brother were already naked which was why she didn respond to Chad earlier because she felt embarrassed.

”Come now Amich. We must hurry and get cleaned. ” She called him into the shower. ”The sooner we
e clean the sooner we can figure out a way to get back to our timeline. The Supreme Magus must have left inscriptions in the manuscripts. Our people are counting on us to save them. ”

Silvia was determined to go back and rescue her fellow magicians from the tyranny of the Grand Inquisitor. Although she acted hastily, she spent a long time in the shower due to how warm and relaxing the water felt, coupled with the various mixture of detergents that made her smell amazing, moreover, soften her skin.

Amich played around in the bubble foam excitedly. For the first time since he was transported to the present timeline, he was smiling.

Outside in the barn, Chad was operating a pitchfork to scrape up the scattered hay and bundled them in an orderly manner. While he was doing this, a cattle escape from the broken portion of the fence and was on its way outside.

”Hey, get back here. ” Chad chased the cattle outside. He caught up with it close to where he had parked the tractor. ”I got you, you sneaky cheese maker. Get back in there. ”

Leading the escaped cattle back into the barn, Chads ear picked up on a series of engines rumbling and turned his head to identify its source. He noticed over 6 black vehicles driving up the hill along the road that led to the main entrance of the ranch.

”What the hell is all this? The plates on those vehicles are government issued. ” Chad was quick to notice this fine detail. However, he still wasn aware of what those people have come to his ranch for, so he decided to go to the front yard to meet them. Before heading there, he hurriedly tied the cattle to the tracker to prevent it from straying.

The operator of the lead vehicle pulled over on the gravel-filled driveway. Sherlock was in that vehicle with a team of CRC agents. The driver asked him, ”Is this the right place? ”

An agent who had a scanning device in his hands answered affirmatively. ”It is. The QRT Scanners are picking up a strong signal over there by that barn. ”

The driver looked through the window and saw Chad coming over. ”A young man is coming towards us. ”

Sherlock saw him and said, ”Hes probably the Berkleys son. Ill go talk to him first. ” He came outside with a neat briefcase in his hand.

The agents waited until Sherlock came out of the lead vehicle before they all open their doors and exited their respective vehicles.

”So many… ” At first glance, Chad counted over 30 people armed with weapons and carrying strange devices populating his driveway. A part of him was nervous but he decided to act bravely so these strangers wouldn think of him as a pushover.

Chad stuck his pitchfork into the ground and said boldly, ”Hey, whats with all these people showing up here? I didn know I was throwing a party and if I did, I wouldn invite strangers. ”

Sherlock heard what he said and approached him while signalling to the others to go to the barn. ”You must be Chad Berkley. ”

”I am. ” Chad became suspicious. ”How do you know my name? ”

”I am an old-time friend of your parents. Sherlock Urchard. Probably youve heard of me. ”

Chad blatantly replied. ”No, I haven . ” He noticed the 30-something people rushing towards the barn and shouted, ”Hey, where are they going? This is private property you can just barge in here and do whatever the hell you want! ”

Chad was upset that his authority was being undermined. Although he called out to them, the CRC agents didn stop moving toward the barn.

Identifying Chads miffed persona, Sherlock tried his best to clarify, ”You don have to be concerned about those men. We
e not here to confiscate your farm or anything of the sort. ”

”Then why the heck are you here? ”

Sherlock didn want to divulge sensitive information to some youth so he avoided the question by asking, ”Ah, are your parents inside? ”

”They aren here. ” Chad picked back up his pitchfork and glared at Sherlock threateningly. ”Now tell me why are you people ransacking my barn, otherwise, I will be forced to call the cops. ”

Sherlock weight his option then spoke, ”It seems I have no other choice but to tell you. You might also be able to help us out. Walk with me young man. ”

Chad walked with Sherlock towards the barn while listening to what he had to say. ”We are researchers affiliated with the CRC. Im sure youve heard about our recent project that has been leaked online. ”

Chad remembered reading something about the CRC. ”You are the guys who are wasting billions of dollars trying to build an impossible time machine when that money could be better spent to help the needy. ”

Sherlock responded, ”I don agree with the way you phrase your statement. Just think of the possibilities of what this would mean for our species. The essence of creation could be at our fingertips. Our research will be valuable to all of mankind. And we may have located the breakthrough we needed to make it all a reality. ”

Chad inquired, ”What breakthrough are you going on about? ”

Sherlock explained, ”Approximately an hour and 40 minutes ago our sophisticated quantum automated scanners detected an Outer Burst anomaly occurring right at this spot. ” They were standing at the barn entrance where some CRC agents were searching with their laser scanners.

”You may not comprehend the technical jargon that Im phrasing so to put it simply, we strongly believe that a portal connected to an alternate timeline has briefly appeared here. Weve recorded a bizarre seismic reading that lasted only a few seconds, perhaps you felt it? ”

”Hm? ” Processing all the information that was conveyed to him, Chads intuition began to operate in overdrive. So that earthquake wasn normal? And the loud explosion I heard wasn my imagination. If what this man is saying is true then Silvia and her brother might be from a separate dimension? He began doubting himself, Is such a thing even possible? But that might explain their weird appearance and how they mysteriously appeared in my barn dressed in those unusual clothes.

Deep in thought, chad directed his sight to his house where the Vaud siblings were currently enjoying their aromatic shower. He was vacillating between exposing Silvia and Amich or keeping their presence hidden from the CRC agents.
