What Gu Shao didn’t know was that he wouldn’t have to worry about this for much longer.

Inside the school.

After the successful rehearsal, the few Art Committee members surrounded Gu Xi wanting to talk about her outfit during the performance.

“You need something that’s high end and eye-catching,” suggested Dong Mingming.

There is this saying: Talent, what’s that? Whatever’s lacking in performance will be made up with props.

The Art Committee members thought about it and felt that that made a lot of sense.
“I feel that it didn’t have to be too over the top.
Gu Xi’s piece isn’t the most magnificent kind.
But it must be eye-catching.”

……

The few of them discussed it with genuine interest and Gu Xi injected from next to them, “If it is the stage outfit that you are talking about, then you don’t need to worry.”

Gu Chenyi had specifically texted her previously to let her know that she would not need to worry about her stage costume.
He had a big surprise for her.

Had that been said by her grandfather or Gu Yanlin, she would be worried that it would be a pink set from head to toe.

Gu Chenyi wasn’t half bad.
Perhaps because his mother was a world-renowned designer, his taste was fairly decent.

With what was said, the others nodded and dropped the subject on the stage costume.

Nevertheless, Dong Mingming’s eyes lit up the next second.
Tugging at Gu Xi, she said, “We won’t need to prepare for your stage costume, but we need something for the open ceremony!”

The Art Festival at HSAU would span an entire day.

The opening ceremony in the morning, art exhibitions in the afternoon, and finally the closing ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, the representatives elected for each class would go up on stage and recite their class’s motto in addition to the speeches from the principal, teacher representative, parents’ representative, and the student representative.

Nevertheless…

“I will need an outfit for the morning too?” asked Gu Xi.

Couldn’t she just wear her school uniform?

“Of course!” said Dong Mingming.
Pausing a little, she held onto Gu Xi and said with a solemn look, “Let me tell you.
Even though reciting of the class motto only lasts a few minutes, but you are representing the image of our class!”

On this note, the school never had any dressing guidelines but, somewhere down the line, the student representative segment had turned into the important “show off”, errr, competition among different classes.

Everybody wanted to dress up the best they could.

It was, after all, about class pride.

Gu Xi looked over at the others.
Sure enough all of the Art Committee members nodded seriously.

Another Art Committee member asked Gu Xi, “Do you have any suitable outfit, Gu Xi?”

Gu Xi thought about it some and shook her head, “I don’t think so.”

Most of the clothes in her closet were her regular clothes.
There were a couple pink poofy ones with lace and ribbons that was allegedly picked up by Gu Yanlin.
They were grand but still seemed inappropriate for the student representative segment.

“It’s alright.
It’s not too late yet.
We can go buy it together,” suggested the Art Committee member.

Dong Mingming and the others agreed.
“That works!”

“I know of a shop inside the I’live Shopping Center.
I walked past it last time and their clothes looked very pretty, and their selection was huge! Oh, oh, oh.
They also had a lot of little trinkets.” The more Dong Mingming talked, the more excited she got and that had affected the others around her as well.

“What say we go and check it out after school?”

“Okay.
We can even see if we can find anything else that is suitable as stage props.”

The few talked over it and finally decided on going to pick up Gu Xi’s outfit that afternoon.

“Let me let my dad know.”

As she spoke, Gu Xi texted Gu Shao.
[Dad, I will be heading to the mall with a few classmates to pick out outfit for the Art Festival.
Will be home late.]

On the other side.
Gu Shao, after receiving the message and no longer needed to go pick up his child, decided to buckle down and get some work done.

In two hours’ time, Gu Shao was able to review a few project proposals and sign a few documents.

Xu Fei came inside of the office.

“Chairman, Mr.
Qiao has arrived.”

Gu Shao nodded, “Show him in.”
