The remaining four dragonfish wheel through the air as they descend.
Aro’s [Gale], the nightmare’s [Dark Sphere[, Volk’s [Shockwave], and the black lizard’s [Clay Gun] shoot up at them.
But, the dragonfish skilfully weave through the barrage.
The occasional injury they receive is quickly healed with [Autoregeneration].
They have a lot of MP, so the fight could drag on for a while if I don’t interfere.

Four B+ monsters… This might be a bit much for the treant and nightmare.
Aro and Volk should be able to compete, but it’ll still be a hard fight for them.

They can fly around freely, and they still have a fair number.
It’s impossible for me to cover for everyone at once.
It might be best if I culled them down a bit further.

…No, if I can just stop them from moving, the fight should be doable.
I’ll try pinning everyone to the ground with [Gravity].

『Everyone, get down! I’ll draw their attention, then pull them to the ground!』

In tree spirit form, treant-san perches on my back… I guess that spot might be safe, but isn’t it about time you cancelled your skill?

“Givaavaavaa!”

One of the dragonfish takes aim at me, the tallest figure on the battlefield.
Its fish mouth splits open, gaping wider than I thought was possible.
It almost looks as though its head has peeled back.
The huge opening is lined by densely-packed teeth.

S-scary… It would definitely hurt to be bitten by that, even for me.
But, I’ll stop it before its teeth reach me!

[Gravity]! A dome of black light expands out from me.
One by one, the dragonfish slam into the ground, and begin churning up dirt as they struggle.

Of course, Aro and the others are also forced down, but as they were on the ground from the start and had braced for it, they’re mostly unharmed.
I held back on the power, too.

Now then… There’s a skill I’d like to try out.
Let’s see what it does.

【Normal skill [Ideal Weapon]】
【A magic skill that allows the user’s ideal weapon to be drawn from the world of dreams.】
【The weapon’s abilities depend heavily on the strength of the user’s magic, and on the skill level.】
【Mana is continuously consumed while in use.】
【Once the weapon leaves the user’s hands, it disappears.】

In short, it’s a skill to conjure whatever weapon I want.
The description gives another reference to the vague world of dreams, so it might be an appropriate skill for the [Dream Dragon].

I’ve always been walking on four legs up to now, so I’m not sure how I would normally go about wielding a weapon, but… Now that I’m an oneiros, I have [Dragon Mirror].
Making slight tweaks to my body is easy.
Using [Dragon Mirror], I distort the surrounding light and space to transform myself into a bipedal dragon.
Alright… It feels a little strange, but it’s not bad.
The height of my field of view has suddenly shot up.

Next, I activate [Ideal Weapon].
I got the skill at level 5, so it shouldn’t be entirely unusable.
I focus on the image of a sword suitable for my size.

Light shines from my hand, which then gains mass and transforms into a sword.
In my hand, a giant carving knife with a black handle and a dull white blade appears.
Purple light is seeping out of the blade.

【[Sword of Disaster]: Value B】
【[Attack: +65]】
【A giant sword that is said to bring disaster.
It only has a single edge.】

【It is made from the bones of a dragon that once spread calamity.】
【It confers the [Poisoned] and [Cursed] conditions to those it cuts, in proportion to the strength of the wielder’s magic.】

It seems the white blade is made of bone.

Hmm… For how long it took to make, the bonus is a little small… Of course, it’s better to have it than not, but considering the mana it takes to maintain, it might not be the most practical skill to use.
It restricts the ways I can move, and with how used to walking on four legs as I am, wielding a sword feels awfully strange.

“…Oh?”

…Volk is staring at me with intense curiosity.
S-sorry, it’ll disappear the moment I let go, so I don’t think I can lend it away.

『I’m about to cancel it!』

Right after my [Telepathy], I cancel the [Gravity].
Freed from their weight, the dragonfish begin to rise.
At the same time, Aro and the others begin to move.

“Givaa!”

One of the dragonfish opens its mouth wide and charges at the black lizard.
This looks dangerous… Is what I think for a second, but then the head of the dragonfish that was reduced to minced meat by my [Gravidon] rises and bites into the side of the charging dragonfish.

“Gigueh!”

The dragonfish’s body folds, and it slams head-first into the ground.
The one that attacked it should have already been dead.
Glancing at Aro, I see she has an arm extended towards the dead body.
It seems it was Aro’s [Undead Maker], her skill that allows her to use dead bodies as weapons.

Seeing what it can do, it seems like a rather broken skill… Though I suppose it’s not often that there’s a convenient corpse lying around.

I look at Volk.
In order to help with everyone else’s levelling, it seems he’s fighting in a rather restrained manner.
He’s pretends to attack in order to draw a dragonfish’s attention to him, then darts away.
Since coming here, he seems to have been taking on a conspicuous role in fights a lot.

I notice that the fog has been getting thicker.
Hmm… It could just the wind blowing it around, so it might not be anything to worry about.

But then, all of a sudden, the dragonfish that Volk is fighting blurs and seems to split in two.
The two images quickly snap back to one, but I wonder what that was.
I feel a slight nausea similar to seasickness.

“Guh…!”

Volk’s downward swing stops, and suddenly he gets thrown backwards.
Did he mistake his landing and lose his balance? The dragonfish’s jaws then snap closed just in front of him.

…Huh? For Volk, his movements seem to be a lot clumsier than usual.

“Gih!”

The jaws of another dragonfish snap closed right next to the nightmare.
She just barely managed to dodge, but now it’s chasing her.
I can see confusion apparent in the wasted movements of her desperate scramble.

I kick off the ground and spread my wings, then slam the Sword of Disaster down on the dragonfish’s head, cutting clean through it.

“Gijieeeh!”

【900 experience points have been acquired.】
【Due to the title skill [Walking Egg: Lv -], an additional 900 experience points have been acquired.】
【The level of [Oneiros] has risen from 78 to 79.】

The dragonfish dies.
The nightmare stops moving, appearing relieved.

Suddenly, I realise that the treant’s no longer on my back.
Looking up, I see it, giant and metal, plummeting down towards the ground.
Apparently it jumped off of me while I was in the air, with an aim to use [Meteor Stamp] to help the nightmare… But, it ends up missing the dead dragonfish without so much grazing it, boring a hole into the ground.

『M-master-dono!』

…As I thought, between Volk’s error, the nightmare’s panic, and the treant’s miss, something strange is going on.
Are they being hit with illusion magic? I have complete immunity to illusions, so the effect was probably cancelled on me automatically.
No, the fog itself might be hallucinogenic.
Still, it’s strange.
The sky eels don’t have any illusion skills, or even a high illusion resistance…

“GivaaaaaaaaaaAAAA!”

All of a sudden, the deafening cry of a dragonfish resounds.
Two additional long and thin shadows appear in the sky.

I guess that was a call for backup, but this is strange.
There were three dragonfish still alive here, but… All of them were within my field of view.
None of them appeared to cry out.
So what could have possibly made that noise?
