Gu Nian’s eyes lit up and immediately took the opportunity to talk up her precious son to the director.
“I have met up with Mr.
Luo Xiu previously to talk to him about the character and his role in the script.
Mr.
Luo Xiu was very professional and easy to work with.
I definitely feel like I have known him for a long time.”

Assistant Director Lin was used to the usual Gu Nian who constantly looked like she was out of battery.
Seeing how uppity she was, he couldn’t help but teased, “Oh? Do you feel that you’ve known him for a long time or is it love at first sight?”

Gu Nian was stunned for two seconds then, the fairy smile on her disappeared.
With a very solemn look, she said, “Oh no.
Love at first sight? That would just be treacherous.”

Assistant Director Lin, “……?”

After the exchange of pleasantries, everybody sat down along the long table and started having lunch.
Gu Nian monitored the director looking for the right opportunity to talk to him about the added character and also, at the same time, kept an eye out on the demoness to prevent her from making a move on her precious son.

Both her mind and body were exhausted by the end of lunch.

After lunch and the disposable utensils were taken away, the support staff brought a tray of tall glasses with each of them filled with white colored fluid that were giving out a delicious smell.

The support staff introduced them as a local specialty.
Its name, too, was very odd and Gu Nian couldn’t make it out.
That, however, did not stop her from trying a sip of it.
There was a hint of savory taste in the otherwise sweet fluid.

“Aye, this is pretty good.” Assistant Director Lin gave it his thumbs up.

Geng Hongyu nodded as well, apparently pleased with the taste of it.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed, “Lu Xun, how come you didn’t try yours?”

A few people looked over.

Sure enough, Luo Xiu’s beverage was the only one that was untouched.

Gu Nian paused a little.

She recalled Luo Xiu’s little assistant complaining to her about Luo Xiu’s severe germophobic issue in the past.
Especially when it came to shared items – non disposable kitchenware was the worst of it all.

But he would only offend others if he shared that about himself, especially the primary director who was known to be conservative…

Luo Xiu looked up and said gently, “I apologize, I am not used to…”

“Mr.
Luo Xiu is lactose intolerant!” Gu Nian put her hand on Luo Xiu’s wrist under the table and took a chance to interrupt what he was saying.

Luo Xiu paused.

Geng Hongyu nodded.
“Oh, I see.
You should mention to the support staff sooner next time.
We wouldn’t have any mishaps.”

Geng Hongyu didn’t know any better.
Assistant Director Lin, on the other hand, knew Gu Nian pretty well.
He knew that if she had interjected at this moment, then she must be lying.
He asked, “How do you know him so well after only meeting him once?”

Gu Nian lied seriously, “Creating character is the job of a screenwriter.
Getting to know the actors is a very important part of the creative process.”

Assistant Director Lin smiled and did not call her out on it.

Dodging that bullet, Gu Nian looked back and warned Luo Xiu in a low voice, “Director Geng is very conservative and does not like picky, young actors.
Don’t bring up your germophobic tendency in front of him.”

Luo Xiu was looking at her hand that was placed over his.
Hearing her words, he looked up and smiled nonchalantly.

“Miss Gu does seem to know me very well.
Very few people know of my germophobic tendency.
Dare I ask how did you find out about it?”

Gu Nian looked up, shocked.
“…..”

Oh darn.

She did not think it through during the heat of the moment when she was protecting her son.
