“If the traditional beast ritual of putting the intact beast carcass means a blessing to obtain rebirth.
Then, a reversed curse is……to never rest in peace?” Everyone winced as Nick finished, not even knowing how to breathe for a moment.

This was the Tomb of the God Phae, and in it lay one of the most respected main gods of the Old Gods era.
But now they found that such a curse had been buried at the entrance to the main god’s eternal resting place with scattered skeletons of thousands of fierce beasts, cursing Phae never to be freed……

“Who on earth did this ……?” Someone gulped in disbelief, “A curse on a god? This is more than a fucking death wish.
This is going against the heavens!”

As Kevin once said, the Giant Beastman treated the gods as the demised heroes from history and legend; the Spirit Clan treated the gods as the source of their belief and all their power; the Euna Clan treated the gods more like their direct ancestors.

Who would be happy to have their ancestors’ graves turned into such a mess?

Everyone in the room was both shocked and angry.

Oswald’s face was in the worst possible state, having first seen Kevin enter the tomb alone, leaving the others behind, and then to have such a vicious curse placed on Phae.
His mood had gone from bad to worse.

“Who would have the chance to do such a thing except for the people who built this tomb?!” He asked rhetorically in a deep voice.

The crowd was so astonished just now that their minds wouldn’t even function, but at this moment, when they heard Oswald say this, they instantly linked up all the doubts that came before and after–

Why was the tomb of a god of light in such a dark and damp place where no light could be seen?

Why was there a vicious grave keeper like the dryads at the entrance to the tomb of such a highly revered god?

Any ordinary man’s tomb would be filled with bouquets and blessings from those who missed them.
Meanwhile, the god who all should worship, his exact grave location was not well known, and the gate was filled with the spirits of the dead.

The only explanation was those building the Tomb of the God Phae didn’t do it to pay their respects to Phae from the beginning but to trap him in this darkness where his soul would never see the light of day.

The so-called “grave-keepers” were not there to guard it but to watch it.

These layers of dead beasts, buried in different generations, had something to do with dryads, who probably buried additional layers of bones on them every so often to keep the curse lasting.

“I finally understand what it means to use us as living sacrifices……” Nick’s face turned green as he remembered what Kevin had said earlier.
“This is the case of not catching a fierce beast, so they slaughtered others to make do for it.”

“The tomb is built like this so that whoever comes will be killed just to add to the curse.” The officer next to Nick chimed in.

Hearing this, Oswald’s face turned even worse when he thought of Kevin, who had already gone inside the god’s tomb.

Just as he opened his mouth to give an order, a gust of wind blew up the crowd’s necks, and the insect lamps in their hands flickered twice before suddenly going out with a “puff”.

The crowd was startled.

“This bag is filled with insects and not fire.
How can the wind extinguish it?” Someone whispered in disbelief.

“Because it didn’t go out, but the worms inside died.” Oswald said coldly, ” Do you remember where you are? Everyone, gather with your backs to each other.
Something’s coming.”

“What is it?!”

“The undead……”

As the crowd outside the door stumbled upon trouble, Kevin was carrying an insect lamp and walking unhurriedly along the winding path.
If you looked closely, you could see that the sight on either side of this road was downright creepy–

There were patches of tall reed-like grasses almost to Kevin’s shoulders.
But instead of grass spikes, human faces grew at the tops of those tall grasses.

Each face was white and slightly swollen, and the eyebrows and eyes were so dark and blue that the contrast was numbing.
There were men and women, old and young, and they stared straight at Kevin as if there was nothing else in the place worthy of their attention but him.

And indeed it was.
The road was so silent that apart from the infinitely amplified “rustling” of Kevin’s footsteps, there was only another rhythmic muffled sound.

It was the sound of blood dripping on the ground.

When Kevin entered the tomb’s door, new wounds kept appearing on his body before slowly healing themselves.
Sometimes on his fingers, sometimes on his arms, sometimes on his chest and back……

Each time, it started with a rapid festering of the superficial skin, followed by dripping flesh and blood until the ghastly white bones were revealed, then slowly grew back to heal.
No sooner had this wound healed completely than another began to repeat the process.

Therefore as Kevin made his way over, the blood on the floor had formed a line.

The faces on either side of him gulped and stared at Kevin, seemingly hungry but fearful.
The faces subconsciously ducked back wherever Kevin went to give him a wider path.
As Kevin steps forward, the faces swoop down like mad to lick the dripping flesh and blood from the ground.

The faster ones almost hit Kevin’s heels, but Kevin didn’t pause and kept striding forward.

The faces made a rude “huffing and puffing” sound as they lapped up the blood and mud as if they were not licking a thin layer of blood and flesh but swallowing something into their bellies.

Kevin’s face was as pale as paper in the light of the insect lights, as if he had just been dug out of the ground by Ben.
When no one was around, those usual emotions disappeared from his face, appearing extraordinarily cold and emotionless.

The creepy road didn’t go straight to the end.
There were several identical-looking crossroads in between.

Kevin didn’t lift an eyelid whenever he came across a crossroad in the path.
With a turn of his feet, he walked straight into one of them, seemingly knowing his way around.

It didn’t take long for him to reach the end of the road.

Behind him were the devouring faces, their eyes still fixed on Kevin as they frantically licked the blood and mud from the ground, as if they couldn’t let him go but were too scared to stop him out of fear.

In front of Kevin was a hot, steaming mud swamp, which looked oddly black with a hint of dark red, boiling and gurgling, creating an indescribable discomfort.

Kevin stared at the swamp for a moment, his brow furrowing slightly, then slowly returning to indifference, even a little colder than before.
He lifted his left hand, barely recovered from the previous rotten state, and held it above the mud swamp.

Large drops of blood fell in cascades into the swamp, steamed by the heat and giving off an even more pungent smell of blood.

Kevin’s left hand, almost white as a bone, healed a little again, eventually becoming a slender, well-boned form again.

The moment he withdrew his hand, a huge creature suddenly leapt out of the blood-dripping swamp, its face unclear, only its mouth full of razor-sharp teeth visible.

Kevin took a step back in time.

The moment the creature landed on the swamp’s surface, he flipped over and jumped onto its back.
The creature turned its head and tried to bite, but Kevin squeezed its mouth in a deadly grip.
Kevin twisted it into an almost snapping position, leaned down to stare into its golden eyes, and asked in a very calm tone, “Going or not?”

The creature was forced to tilt its head back and roll its big white eyes at Kevin for a moment.
Not sure if it smelled his blood or saw what he looked like, but it instantly fell back onto the swamp in exuberance and fear, flicking its long tail and swimming towards the other side of the swamp with Kevin on its back.

The monster hit the shore with a breeze.
Kevin had leapt out of the way nimbly when it was still a short distance away, just in time to avoid the monster’s final reversal strike.

The creature used almost a ten out of ten power, the sharp teeth of its upper and lower jaws clashing together with a sound so crunchy that Kevin even suspected it was on the verge of breaking its teeth.
It fell back into the swamp after the failed blow, staring reluctantly at Kevin on the shore.

Kevin gave it a short laugh, waved his hand at it, and took off without a backward glance.

The creature sank back into the depths of the swamp with two strings of bubbles.

The journey looked horrific, but it was no problem for Kevin, who walked the whole way unfazed and stood on this side of the bank.

A high gate towered before him with four massive pillars supporting the sloping roof above each side.
The mountain flower1Mountain flower is an architectural term.
In traditional Chinese architecture, it is the the triangular wall formed on both sides of the Xieshan-style roof.
on the front of the sloping roof was carved with phoenix, witch serpents, and flying deer.
This door would have looked imposing and noble under the sun if it had been on top of a mountain.
Unfortunately, it was neither at the top of the mountain nor in the sunlight, and the eerie, dark surroundings made the structure stand out as lonely and shabby.

Kevin looked at the mountain flowers with a complicated expression before lifting his foot and stepping through the door.

The door was connected to a huge hall of columns, each carved with the same three animals as on the mountain flower.
In the history of gods, these were the symbols of the three main gods of the Old Gods, the phoenix symbolising Phae, the witch serpent symbolising Faesar, and the flying deer symbolising Thenez.

However, none of these three animals had a vine stem around them.

Kevin took one look at the huge pillars, lifted his feet, and walked inside without a second glance.

The pillars hall was so empty that his footsteps hit the stony walls and folded back, creating an overlapping echo……

The wounds on his body continued to repeat the process of festering and healing as if two invisible forces were pulling and tugging at his body, but he was unconcerned.

Although the hall of pillars was vast, he still managed to reach the end quickly.

He raised his hand and pushed open a massive stone door, and the main hall of the Tomb of the God Phae was revealed to him.

The walls on either side of the main hall were lined with giant birds of all shapes and sizes, their wings seemingly spreading out from the stone walls, but they were dragged and bound by vine stems as if they could never break free.
At the far end of the main hall, a huge god’s statue was directly in front of Kevin’s gaze.

The statue was slender and handsome, with a slightly downcast brow.
There was a sense of indescribability mixed in with the nobility and holiness……

Around the statue of the god was a truly insane bush of thorns like the one outside the tomb door, with long sharp thorns and intertwined branches, like a densely interwoven net that enclosed the statue of the god.

Kevin walked over to the stone goblet in front of the statue, held his arms and examined the statue from top to bottom.
Then, one corner of his mouth lifted, and he mumbled, “First time standing at this angle, this is really…… unlike me at all.”
