The Legend Of The Golden Eyes

3. The Journey To Destiny.

His pace was normal, his body dripped sweat as he ran nonstop on the treadmill. His biceps were covered in sweat, and his sweatshirt was already soaked. His eyes were on the view that was demarcated by the villa glass as the entire villa was visible.

He was suddenly distracted when the earpod in his ear connected to the caller from his phone.

”Accept call ”. Lu Shui Hua spoke gently as he tried to steady his breath, still running.

”Mr. Lu, we got the license of permission to go on with the research ”.

The side of his lips rose in achievement at the information the caller on the other end just passed to him as he pressed a button by the side of the treadmill. The pace he took started to dissipate slowly until he was walking again.

”Tell Xinjiang to get the helicopter ready, we will take off tomorrow ”.

”Okay, Mr. Lu ”.

He stepped down from the equipment and grabbed the towel he kept on another piece of equipment as he cleaned his dripping body.

Lu Shui Hua picked up the water bottle that was also close to the towel and took a sip from it as he returned to the view in front of him.

Five years ago, he graduated from Harvard University as the best Archaeologist, and in that short period, he had proven to be the best countless times. Lu Shui Hua made record-breaking discoveries nationwide and internationally.

He was the best among geniuses worldwide and was given so many awards for his mind-blowing achievements. He even proceeded further to build cooperation for archaeology that is now globally known worldwide.

The outburst of his career and his discoveries still left the media perplexed by his dedication to history. His hard work got him where he is today and his success was at its peak.

Lu Shui Hua took a step closer to the view as he took another sip of the liquid. He was too engrossed that he didn even notice the person that walked into the room.

”Hey, baby ”.

Cherry lee called from behind as she pulled the shade she had on her eyes off to the top of her head. The brown leather pants and black jacket she had on gave her a fancy aura as her black wavy hair packed up in a ponytail made her even classier.

CHERRY LEE — Lu Shui Huas partner. Half Chinese and half Korean. Studied at the same university and is one of his oldest friends. Just came from abroad to assist with the new project.

He sniffed her from the doorway before his green eyes turned around to meet the brightest shade of brown.

”I wasn expecting you until this weekend ”.

”I missed you too ”.

She gave him a tight hug and caressed his back in a comforting way as her eyes went to the view behind.

”This is a crazy view by the way ”.

He released a low sigh as he turned around to where she strolled to. The view was the only reason he bought the villa in the first place. Yes, he had other humongous mansions scattered around the globe but he picked this one specifically for the beauty it possessed.

”Yeah ”.

He responded in agreement because he understood what she meant. They both had a thing for nature and that is why they vibed from the start. He had known her long enough to know that she loved everything that concerns the beauty of nature.

”This is the billion-dollar island? ”

Her eyes were still on the view as he took a step beside her.

”Yeah, how long are you staying? ”

Her lips lifted to his words when those words left his lips.

”Hmm, you are in a hurry to get rid of me. Do you have a guest? ”

His expression remained impassive.

”Don talk nonsense. I just don want you to partake in this project ”.

Her eyes left the view for a while and gazed at him before they went back to where they found enticing.

”You know, I expect a good reason before deciding on whether to listen to you or shove your opinion right up your ass ”.

”I don need a reason to make any decision I want to make ”.

She lifted her brows in suspicion with her arms crossed backward as she moved closer beside him.

”You know something, don you? ”

Her eyes pierced into his as he furrowed his brows and tried to avoid her contact.

”You are overthinking again ”.

”Spill ”. She concluded.

He still didn look into her eyes as she started talking again, not even giving him any space.

”It is Zhou Jiangsu, isn it? He said something about me right? ”

ZHOU JIANGSU — Also Lu Shui Huas old friend and partner. Very good at tech and studied at Harvard University too.

”No, he didn ”. He denied.

”Then why don you want me to go with you? ”

Lu Shui Hua had nothing to say because she was right. He and Jiangsu had a conversation two days ago.

TWO DAYS AGO

He sat quietly in his study with his eyes focused on the screen of his laptop as his hand scrolled lightly. He has been in the research of the community that had been discovered to have a hidden history that nobody seems to talk about.

Lu Shui Hua had been on this for more than half a year and had finally discovered a tale that the people call a myth, and wanted to dig deeper into it. He didn even know why he suddenly found interest in a story that is supposedly a tale, but something kept pulling him. He felt this slight connection whenever he thought about it, and this had never happened to him before. The slight thud on the door distracted him a little as he looked up and Jiangsu walked in.

His brown hair shined brightly when he walked underneath the slightly bright chandelier in the slightly dark room, and straight toward Li Shui Huas desk. He looked grim in the deep blue long-sleeve he wore and white suit pants that fitted him perfectly.

”I looked into what you asked me to ”.

He went straight to the point immediately he walked in without delay.

”And? ”

”And I found out that some certain incident occurred there decades ago ”.

He was still standing as he spoke with excitement and all seriousness. This is his job and it was evident that he enjoyed doing it.

”Go on ”. Lu Shui Hua added.

”It said here that it took place in an estate called Suzaku Street ”. Jiangsu leaned forward to show the iPad he held to Lu Shui Hua who sat quietly listening to him.

”Suzaku street? ” Lu Shui Hua asked with squinted eyes. Somehow the name sounded familiar but he couldn figure out why.

Jiangsu nodded and then he continued.

”It says that cherry blossoms were planted from the beginning to the end of the estate and no one goes in there. The place was completely restricted because of the unfortunate things that happened to the people that went there ”.

Jiangsus almond-shaped eyes never left Lu Shui Huas eyes as he spoke.

”When I did a thorough investigation, I discovered that the case of the mysterious estate started when a man went into the estate to seek out its formation and was never seen again afterward. When others heard about it and decided to get to the bottom of a persons disappearance, they went in their numbers in case there was something dangerous in there. There were a total of twenty people, ten elders, and ten youths. They were never seen again ”.

Lu Shui Huas brow lifted at the words that left Jiangsus lips. He is not someone that believes in something he hasn seen before. He believes that every move taken by everyone has a logic behind it. And he also believes that the universe works in that way.

”This information, where did it come from? ”

He asked relaxing his back on his seat as his right hand went to his temple.

”A reliable source ”. Jiangsu concluded.

Lu Shui Hua scoffed.

”I don believe in that. I need to see it for myself. I don trust your source ”.

Jiangsu let out a sigh as he sat on one of the seats directly opposite Lu Shui Hua.

”Are you trying to say we are going to Kunlun Mountain? ” Jiangsu asked with furrowed brows.

”Yes ”. He said plainly.

”What? ” Jiangsus face was shock ridden.

”I want to conclude everything about this project before the end of this year. Hence, we will start this discovery next week ”. He concluded.

”In three days? ” Jiangsu exclaimed.

”Precisely, yes ”. His face remained passive as he continued.

”Get the team ready and also get everything about this research plan ready ”.

Jiangsu felt his head spinning. This whole thing was going too fast for him and it was driving him insane. This minute he is talking about the different encounters of different unfortunate people, and the next minute he is going to be the next victim? Really?

He has always known that Lu Shui Hua is a very stubborn person, and once his mind is set on something, he gets it done. But in this case, it was suicide. They are going on a suicide mission and Lu shi Hua doesn seem bothered about it. He wants to see this forbidden legend by himself.

”S-Shui Hua, I-I-I think we should… ”.

”Cherry will be coming back next weekend, she is going to be a part of this project ”.

Lu Shui Hia didn even wait for him to finish his statement.

”Sisi? She is coming back? ” Jiangsu asked with curious filled eyes.

”Yes ”.

”Shui Hua, she can be part of this project, its too dangerous ”. He said with a worried voice.

”Why not? ” His face was still blank with no emotion at all as he spoke.

”Because she is stubborn and she doesn listen ”. Jiangsu spoke with all seriousness.

Lu Shui Hua was now sitting in a relaxed position as he moved the pen in his grip in a skillful way.

”Why do I feel like you are giving an entirely different reason not relating to the circumstance? ”

Jiangsu was taken unaware of what Li Shui Hua said and he didn even know how to defend himself. He just went silent for a while before he finally thought of what to say.

”T-Thats not true at all. I-Im just saying… well, you know how Sisi acts, she is immature and likes to violate rules, and this place is history. She could mess things up ”.

He added and waited for Lu Shui Huas response. He knew that Lu Shui Hua would never want this project to be jeopardized by even the littlest mistakes. He also did not want Cherry to go because he wanted her to be safe. If anything were to happen to her, he would hate himself forever. He had always had eyes for her and would do anything to protect her even if he hadn found the courage to tell her.

”Fine, but if she eventually finds out about this, Im not taking a bullet for you ”. Lu Shui Hua added after much conviction.

”I completely understand ”. Jiangsu spoke nervously.
