Breakfast (Preparation).

A servant’s morning comes early.

When the sky in the east began to whiten, I woke up with the cry of a rooster and prepared breakfast.

Whew! After eating so much and sleeping in a fluffy bed, I feel light! Usually I’m so lazy that it’s hard to get up.

I made bread with the flour we bought yesterday.
The flour miller gave me some yeast yesterday, but I’ll have to prepare some homemade yeast later.

“Yaa shoo! Shhhh!”

Preparing bread dough is a lot of hard work.

“Yashoo!”

While the dough was still in primary fermentation, I went out to the market.

Sure enough, the morning market was open, so I bought eggs, a hunk of bacon, and vegetables.
I plan to go to the market again during the day, so I did less shopping in the morning.

I paid the bill with the money that Mr.
Schwarz had given me for the shopping.

…When I got home last night and was taken to the study after being told, “You can pay for your living expenses from here,” I was stunned.

I was stunned to see about 20 jute sacks, each holding a bag of money, in the corner of the wall.
And they were all filled with gold coins.
For a moment, I thought I had wandered into the hideout of a band of thieves.

He said he had put the bounty in a locked room because there was no place to put it… However, he did not put it away at all.
It was left on the floor.
I begged him to put it in a safe or a bank as soon as possible.

But there was a safe belonging to a former resident in that mansion, but I couldn’t figure out the dial number to unlock it.
He didn’t have an account with the bank.

I wonder if I should go to… to open a bank account… with him later?

But it would be an overstepping of authority for a servant to meddle that much…

But living with sacks of gold like that is kind of nerve-wracking for me.

“I wondered if it would be a good idea to disclose all of his assets to a servant who wasn’t his personal butler in the first place…”

I came home from the store and was putting the bread in the oven.

“What are you mumbling to yourself?”

“Hyaa?!”

Suddenly, a voice called out to me from behind and I jumped up.
I turned around and there stood Schwarz-sama with a vicious look on his face, as if he had eaten two or three people to death… I heard that he is a very bad sleeper.

“Good morning, sir.
Did you sleep well?”

“Morning.
The bed is too soft to be comfortable.
My body sinks infinitely.”

…He had the same impression as I do, but for the contrary reason, he couldn’t sleep.

“What kind of bed did you sleep on where you used to stay, if I may ask?”

The bedding is different between a front-line fortress and a nobleman’s mansion, isn’t it?

It is the servant’s role to provide a comfortable sleep for the master.
I was thinking of adjusting the bed mats to his preferred firmness…

“Board.”

“…Board?”

It would… be better for him to get used to… his current bed.

“Breakfast will be ready soon, please wait at the table.
How would you like your eggs?”

“What is that?”

He twisted his head and I explained.

“I can give you boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, omelets, and poached eggs.”

“Is there really that many egg dishes?”

Schwarz-sama frowned, his brow furrowed in annoyance.

“Then I guess, fried eggs.”

“I’m sorry.
But… what kind?”

“What kind?”

“Sunny-side up, over easy, over medium, turnover, overhard, based eggs, single yolk, two yolk, three or more yolks.”

“Wait, wait, wait!”

Schwarz-sama suddenly screamed, clutching his head.

“What’s with that spell and magical words?!? We were talking about fried eggs, weren’t we?”

“Yes, that’s why…”

“No, okay.
I’m not having fried eggs today.”

“Hmm…? Okay.”

What’s the matter? I wonder if the general is quite moody?

He puts his hand to his chin and ponders.

“What’s your favorite egg dish, Michele?”

“I guess I’d have to say omelets.”

“Then make it for me.”

“Right away.”

I replied.

“What would you like the filling to be? Plain, cheese, ground meat, vegetables, potatoes…”

“UWAAA!!!!”

The general finally scratched his head and went crazy!

Hee, I’m scared.

He grabbed my shoulder tightly and pleaded urgently with his teary eyes.

“Please make it a normal one, the most normal one!”

Does he mean plain… omelet?

“Yes, I understand…”

When I nodded my head, the general said, “I’m going to go wash my face,” and left the kitchen.

Though….
He looked very tired…

“I wonder if he’s that sleep deprived?”
