Ch 3 – Second Generation Ancestor x Illegitimate Child: Palpitations

Lin Sui didn’t pay any more attention to the System’s grumblings inside his mind, and led Yan Qin into the room by the hand.

His slightly smaller palm seemed to have been meticulously sculpted using the highest quality mutton-fat white jade, which was a sharp contrast against the other’s scarred, rough palm.

Yan Qin did his utmost to endure the uncomfortable feeling.
That warm, soft sensation in the palm of his hand felt particularly strange, and when he remembered who the owner of that hand was, he became even more uneasy.

That unexplainable, itchy feeling appeared in his his fingertips once again, and he could only pinch the palm of his other hand to restrain the strange sensation that bubbled up, feeling as though the veins under his skin were being gnawed on by ants.

“Today I’ll have the kitchen make something you like.”

This seemed to be the ultimate reward and show of tenderness, the expression on the face of the young master in front of him was gentle and soft, looking at him as if he was looking at a loveable house pet.

His arrogance seemed to have been carved into his bones, and he made no secret of it as he exposed it to the outside.

“Oh, by the way, Wuyun’s favourite dog-hole is on the Northwestern corner of the wall, you should have seen it yesterday, don’t play around like it did.”

Lin Sui spoke seemingly carelessly, his fingers placed on the side of Yan Qin’s neck, lightly stroking him, but the gentle words he spoke shocked Yan Qin.

The Northwestern corner was in the inner garden, in an extremely concealed place.

The young master didn’t seem to like people much, and in the house, aside from the two fixed servants, the ones sweeping out and tidying up the garden were all hourly workers, Yan Qin remembered he’d avoided the servants yesterday, moreover, he hadn’t sensed anyone in particular looking at him.
If he still had been seen, then that could indicate that the house had cameras, probably more than one.

Perhaps the unpredictable, ruthless and conceited young master in front of him also knew his own character incurred hatred, and filled his house with signs of surveillance.

This made Yan Qin increase his vigilance, and he avoided the possibility of conflict due to his usual silence.

“I already contacted the doctor, he’ll come by a little later to check up on you, so don’t run around.”

Lin Sui left the room after he finished his sentence, and his mood seemed rather good as he went downstairs to eat.

Yan Qin also left the room after the young master had left, and a servant had prepared toiletries for him to use in the washroom on the same floor.
It was somewhat ironic and ridiculous that he was still more like a young master being treated as a pet by Lin Sui than he ever was at the Yan house, but Yan Qin was aware of his own identity as an illegitimate child, so he never expected to be treated like a master either.

Yan Qin walked down the corridor, indifferently sweeping a glance across the black-haired young master sitting in the dining room, and withdrew his gaze.

The doctor quickly arrived carrying a toolbox, and when he saw the tall young man waiting in front of him, his expression was somewhat distressed.

He uneasily reminded him: “Young mater Lin, I’m a veterinarian.”

“Oh…..” At this, a look of sudden realisation appeared on Lin Sui’s face, and he held his head in distress as he spoke, “I forgot, you are Wuyun’s personal doctor.”

There was a light in his eyes, as though he’d really forgotten about this matter.

“Doesn’t matter, just take a look at him, remember to give him medicine.”

Lin Sui waved his hand and spoke without paying it too much mind.

He had superiority and an irritating arrogance written all over him, but coupled with his exceedingly remarkable looks and the peevish air he gave out, it actually left people with a sense of confusion about the kind of person he must be.

He was a vicious flower grown in a soil filled with gold, silver, and jasper, giving off a cold-blooded and arrogant fragrance.

To the extent that his slights and insults, beneath the languid surface of his skin, all seemed like rewards and favours, bright and ostentatious.

Yan Qin pushed the tip of his tongue against the roof of his mouth, staring at the young master’s slender white neck and letting the doctor take out the house’s medicine box and apply medicine on him in a not-so-skilful way.

A servant waited until the doctor left, and wavered somewhat as he stepped forward, very carefully saying: “Young master, in the past, this was the time Wuyun would go out and play.”

Lin Sui stroked his chin and asked Yan Qin: “Do you want to go out?”

Yan Qin seemed to consider it carefully for a moment, and nodded.

“Then go.
Come back early, don’t get lost.”

Yan Qin and the servant both seemed to be momentarily stunned by his agreement, and Lin Sui contained his smile.

“What, a dog needs to be walked on a lead, so you need one too?”

It’s no use, the servant muttered in his mind, the young master hadn’t been too abnormal in the past, although he was even more abnormal now.

Lin Sui was naturally unable to keep Yan Qin constrained inside the house, if he wanted to catalyse his growth as the protagonist, then naturally he would have to give him the appropriate space.

He behaved like an inattentive owner, and left the house by car.

He didn’t say a destination, letting the driver set off wherever he wanted.

The original owner was actually an eighteen-year-old high school sophomore, but the original owner often skipped classes and didn’t go to school, and for Lin Sui this was even more unnecessary.

In his first life, Lin Sui was a top student, and although he had forgotten a lot of things after spending some time in the cultivation world, his ability to remember things was even better than before.
In his peak state, taking an exam was simply not a difficult thing for him.

Through the glass, he looked at the scenery of the current world without saying a word.

The System was shocked: [You came out just to do this? Aren’t you going to resolve that business with the mother of the Son of Fortune?]

Like Lin Sui had said, the System was more like Yan Qin’s mother than his actual mother.

Yesterday, it had urged him to go settle the matter with Yan Qin’s mother to let Yan Qin break away from the quagmire of the Yan family, so he would no longer be held back.

Lin Sui didn’t want to settle it so quickly, after all, doing it that way would make him seem too eager.

Lin Sui patiently asked the System: [Are you sure you want me to take Yan Qin’s mother, move her to a better hospital, give her better care, and have her be entirely under my protection?]

The System: [Of course! That way he won’t need to look at the faces of the others in the Yan family anymore!]

After it finished speaking, the System guarded against him: [Don’t do anything unnecessary.]

Having heard this, Lin Sui smiled lightly.
He was certain this so-called Will of Heaven wasn’t too smart, or perhaps because it was a divine existence itself, it was completely ignorant regarding the complexities of human nature.

His existence and actions were all enough to make Yan Qin vigilant and guarded against him, if he took Yan Qin’s only weakness and held it in his hands, would Yan Qin be grateful?

He would not.
He would only be even more hostile, suspicious, and guarded against him, suffering restlessly every day his weakness was in Lin Sui’s hands.

Yan Qin would certainly break away from the Yan family’s suppression that way, but he would fall into his hands instead and, as far as Yan Qin was concerned, that wasn’t necessarily better than staying with the Yan family, maybe it was worse.

That sounded pretty good, in that case it shouldn’t matter if his actions were a little eager.

Lin Sui cheerfully changed his destination, saying: “Turn around first, I’ll have someone check where Yan Zong is, we’ll go meet him.”

The System was a little suspicious, how could Lin Sui be doing as he was told?

There must have been something strange about it.
The System decided to warn Lin Sui again to not do anything unnecessary.

Lin Sui: [Am I not doing what you told me to do? What are you afraid of?]

Lin Sui told the System with a smile: [Because I suddenly discovered that your instructions were incredibly wise.]

If the System had a body, it would have goosebumps all over, looking at Lin Sui made it feel more and more uneasy.

The System: [Flattery is useless, don’t think I will be lenient towards you.]

Lin Sui praised it: [I’m just telling the truth, that’s all.
I’ll do exactly as you said, that way I will be Yan Qin’s saviour, his benefactor, his light and redemption, he will certainly be deeply grateful towards me and fall hopelessly in love with me.
You’re really a pretty good matchmaker.]

What did it mean to have a guilty conscience? Exactly this.

The light blue bead inside his mind seemed to go out of control, surging with rays of light.

The System’s angry voice shook uncontrollably: [Don’t even think about it! You don’t deserve to get involved with him at all! It’s because of you that he’s like this! He was supposed to be a hero revered by thousands, it was you who wrecked his cultivation and stole his dao bone!]

It was precisely in order to prevent this sort of situation from happening that, at the time of placing Lin Sui’s soul, the Will of Heaven specifically picked malicious characters, and in addition demanded Lin Sui not to go against the character’s design.

Lin Sui came to atone, not to be redeemed.
The Will of Heaven absolutely did not want what happened before to happen again, Lin Sui was too deceitful.

Faced with the System’s criticism, Lin Sui’s expression didn’t waver at all.

He asked: [If I was the protagonist, then wouldn’t my actions be called a reversal of fate?]

The System looked down on him: [You simply don’t deserve to be the protagonist if your type of reversal of fate requires hurting others.]

Lin Sui: [I don’t want to be the protagonist, I just want to live! Should I just surrender to the shackles placed on me at birth and wait for death? Just become others’ cultivation tool and plaything? There was only one Tianling dao bone, he would still have been able to cultivate again, I couldn’t.
When I cut out his dao bone, I made a Heart’s Demon Oath, in case I succeeded, no matter how he dealt with me, I only ever wanted to live like a normal person and not become a tool.
Even if it was like this, would it still be no good?]

Lin Sui never wanted to be the protagonist, he just wanted to be strong, but why couldn’t he?

Lin Sui thought, he didn’t hate Yan Qin, even if it was clear that he always had bad intentions.

A person like him should be the villain, because he was jealous.
If he had been given a normal body to cultivate with, he wouldn’t have done it, but there was never an ‘if’.
He exhausted every method and was unable to change his body, so he had no other choice but to steal.

He didn’t try to embellish his actions and recognised his own despicable-ness, and now his current end was also as a result of his greed.

But if he had to do it once again, he would still do it.
Even if there was only a very small chance of success, he would not let it slip by.

The System wasn’t sure how to respond to his interrogation, it paused for a moment, and spoke: [This is Karma1.]

Karma?

Lin Sui laughed loudly.
The driver in the front shuddered all over when he heard that horrifying laughter, and kept driving as though he hadn’t heard anything.

Lin Sui had never believed in any bullshit Karma, when his life was first held in the wrong he tried to crawl out of the pit covered in mud but was beaten down, there was always someone using this excuse.

The System hesitated for a moment and spoke: [How about you don’t interfere with the matter of the Son of Fortune’s mother at first, and wait until the Son of Fortune is in a critical situation to give him your assistance again.]

Lin Sui knew what it was afraid of, it was afraid that Yan Qin would fall in love with him.
He also didn’t want to see this kind of outcome, so he had to do this even more.

Lin Sui: [Do all of you at the mighty Will of Heaven also change the morning’s orders by the evening2?]

The System was silent, pretending it hadn’t said anything just now.

The head of the Yan family was a little surprised at Lin Sui’s visit, he knew Yan Zhou had sent the other out yesterday and didn’t really approve, so he was planning on letting a few days pass before bringing Yan Qin back home.
He hadn’t thought the Lin family’s brat would find out much, but now he had dropped in for a visit with the intention of packing up the mother and child duo and taking them away.

“Isn’t this a little inappropriate? Young Lin, if you wish for my son to accompany you, I’ll let him stay a few more days.
Is there really a need for this?”

“A two percent share of the profits for the tunnel project.”

Lin Sui didn’t feel like wrangling this old bastard, so he directly threw out his chips.

Yan Zong’s eyes flashed.
He really deserved to be called the Lin family’s little master, spending money so generously, a two percent share of the tunnel project was in the hundreds of millions.
He still wanted to say a few more words, but Lin Sui was a little impatient.

“If Yan Zong is unwilling, I’ll just leave.”

Lin Sui’s reputation on the outside was that of a person who liked to change his face and was not easy to get along with.
Yan Zong couldn’t let the gold mine in front of him fly away, so he immediately continued the discussion.

Lin Sui left as soon as he obtained the exact information.
When he returned to the residence, Yan Qin had already returned and was reading a book on the first floor.

“Come up, help me tidy up a few things.”

Lin Sui stood on the second floor, and waved towards him.

Yan Qin went into the room and saw several dog toys scattered all over the place, chew-toys, stuffed animals, frisbees…..
all of which must have belonged to that German shepherd, Wuyun.

“Pick them up, and put them in the box.”

Lin Sui leisurely and calmly sat on a chair, watching as Yan Qin silently tidied up the things.
He stooped to pick up a leash, and gestured towards Yan Qin.

“These were all of Wuyun’s favourite things, take them and bury them in the back garden…..” Lin Sui tossed the leash in his hands into the box, and laughed softly, “You’re a lot more costly compared to Wuyun, I bled out a large amount today for your sake, so you need to be more sensible than it was, understand?”

Lin Sui’s words carried an implicit meaning, and the expression in his eyes was profound.

His arrogant attitude made Yan Qin’s heart palpitate for no reason at all.
