If there was one person that Xiang Yingzhuo relied on the most, it had to be the retired special forces soldier that had been silently protecting him ever since he was a child.
The novel never mentioned the man’s full name, but Xiang Yingzhuo and the others had always referred to him as Uncle Zhou.

This character appeared frequently throughout the novel.
He was Xiang Yingzhuo’s right-hand man, from the beginning to the end.

When Xiang Yingzhuo and his gang had left the house, they came across a mutated tiger on the road that had escaped from the zoo.

Fortunately, the tiger was still a cub when it mutated.
It had been raised in a zoo since birth, so it lacked savagery and experience.
Uncle Zhou was able to rescue Xiang Yingzhuo, but the tiger bit off nearly half of his arm.

Along the way, he disinfected the wound with drugs and alcohol looted from clinics and wrapped it in gauze.
Before he knew it, the arm he thought was a lost cause had regrown on its own, and he had developed the ability to transform his hands into tiger claws.
The situation turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

The novel’s description of this character was very detailed, so when Yin Yiliu rushed into the crowd and saw the tiger-striped arm punching at Jin Yang, her heart was in her mouth.

It was the military veteran with the mutated arm!

During the later parts of the novel, Uncle Zhou could even slap a mutated animal to death.
One could only imagine how strong his arm was.
Yin Yiliu dared not imagine what would happen if this slap landed on Jin Yang’s body.

She hurried past the people around her.
Her gaze was fixed on Uncle Zhou as she stretched out her sharp claws and pounced at the man.
Her claws dug into the man’s hard and thick skin and pierced through his arm muscles.

Jin Yang had noticed the man who had been standing behind Xiang Yingzhuo.
From his body figure, aura and standing posture, Jin Yang could tell that the man had previously received formal training.
He didn’t want to start a fight, but Xiang Yingzhuo and Hong Ming were too annoying, so he pulled out his gun.

This was not a despicable move.
Having a weapon was considered as strength during the apocalypse.

In the early stages of the apocalypse, no matter how much the human body had mutated, it was still impossible for it to be harder than a bullet.
So when he took a gun out, everyone’s expression changed.

While his eyes were on Xiang Yingzhuo, he also paid attention to the man behind him who had a low sense of presence.
And, just as he predicted, the middle-aged man assumed Jin Yang would not be wary of him and launched a surprise attack.

Jin Yang could feel the air pressure above his head while the punch was still in mid-air.
When his eyes transformed, his pupils turned into slits.
The huge tiger claws in the air appeared to slow down before his eyes.

He was about to raise his hand to block the attack when a ball of white fluff suddenly broke into his field of vision.
It was his little white rabbit.

Jin Yang was too stunned to move as he watched Yin Yiliu’s sharp claws slashed the tiger’s paw and made a bloody cut.
Due to the sudden pain, Old Zhou drew back his arm and raised his other hand to strike the culprit.

Yin Yiliu’s reaction speed was lightning fast.
She jumped and avoided Old Zhou’s punch, then added two more slash wounds on Old Zhou’s tiger paw.

The evolved people around also reacted quickly.
When they realised something had broken in, all of them went into their evolved state as a defensive measure, some with long protruding noses, some with mutated limbs…

“What exactly is it?!”

“A mutated animal has infiltrated the building! Be careful!”

Jin Yang took advantage of the moment and  twisted Xiang Yingzhuo’s shoulder.
Xiang Yingzhuo’s evolution was similar to his.
Both were whole body evolutions in which the strength of their limbs increased tremendously, kind of like Omega Supreme from Transformers.

However, his evolution was a little more unusual.
His senses mutated as well, particularly his eyes were like a pair of eagle eyes capable of predicting movement trajectories, which was the key to his victories despite the inconvenience of his legs.

Jin Yang’s forearm muscles tightened, and he dislocated Xiang Yingzhuo’s arm.
Xiang Yingzhuo let out a low growl and nealy knelt.
His entire body’s muscles tightened at the same time, allowing him to avoid embarrassing himself (by actually kneeling down).
He clenched his teeth and glared at Jin Yang, as if he wanted to rip him to pieces.

Li Yingying was shocked and cried out Xiang Yingzhuo’s name.
She wanted to ask Jin Yang to let go, but when her gaze found his cold eyes, she knew she didn’t have the courage.

Deep down in her heart, she was very afraid of Jin Yang.

Troublemaker Yin Yiliu was like a small cannonball.
No matter how Old Zhou and Hong Ming chased after her, she was able to escape.
She scratched this person’s arm here, then grazed that person’s cheek there.
The evolved people were defenceless against her razor-sharp claws.

Within half a minute, all of the men were battered and exhausted.

Jin Yang couldn’t help laughing.
He let go of Xiang Yingzhuo and pushed him away.
Then a fat ball of fluff jumped into his arms, her innocent red-bean-shaped eyes staring at him.
As if she wasn’t the cause of the commotion.

He held the little rabbit closer and stared coldly at Xiang Yingzhuo and his men.

Yin Yiliu’s speed was really too fast.
The men only reacted after she lept into Jin Yang’s arms.
Their faces were livid as they stared at the harmless-looking white rabbit.
They couldn’t believe the creature that had been fooling around with them was just this little thing.

Yin Yiliu looked exactly like a harmless ordinary rabbit.
She lacked the common feature of most mutated animals — the major increase in size.

The other evolved people in the hall each had their own teams.
When they saw that Jin Yang and Xiang Yingzhuo were having a conflict, they stayed out of it and just watched the show from the sidelines in silence.

It seemed like they had made the right decision.
The man in the wheelchair looked weak, but he had a weapon and good agility.
He was unfazed even when confronted with a group of people.
He was clearly not an average person.

And then a strange mutated rabbit appeared out of nowhere.
With its unusually fast speed and sharp claws, it could easily sever everyone’s throats here.
Everyone began to reassess Jin Yang’s level of strength after taking Yin Yiliu’s abilities into account.

” ”

Seeing that the two sides were about to go all out, the commander of the 8th Unit had to step forward to be the peacemaker.
The other evolved people around also persuaded them to stop fighting, which gave Xiang Yingzhuo and the others a way out1.

Jin Yang and Yin Yiliu couldn’t give a damn about what these people thought.
If you don’t offend me, I won’t offend you.2 The other party initiated the fight, and they simply repaid in kind.

Yin Yiliu wasn’t sure if it was because the main lead’s team had not encountered all kinds of opportunities yet, but they were really weak now.
They couldn’t even win against a mutated rabbit, which made Yin Yiliu a little disappointed, and her fear for them faded by a large part.

She nestled in Jin Yang’s arms and looked at the two women in the team.

The glamorous and sexy woman must have been Li Yingying, the fiancée of the male lead in the novel.
In the later parts of the storyline, she would be given a boxed lunch3, because she was a hindrance to the main lead’s romance, a pitiful ‘vicious female supporting character’.

The other woman stood far away from Xiang Yingzhuo to avoid arousing suspicion.
She had a cold aura and delicate features, and she was undoubtedly the female lead of this novel — Liu Zhen.

With her unique charm, she captured the hearts of the male lead and several side characters, to the point where they were willing to risk their lives for her.
She claimed to be a prophet, but in fact, her golden finger4 was her rebirth.
She knew the major events that would happen in the future and would assist them in overcoming their adversities.

Liu Zhen wasn’t into Xiang Yingzhuo at first and didn’t want Li Yingying to misunderstand.
Xiang Yingzhuo was the one who fell in love with her and thus wooed her.

These two, in Yin Yiliu’s opinion, were both scums; they were perfect for each other.
One already had a fiancée but was in an ambiguous relationship with another woman.
The other acted contrary to what she said: she was aware that this man had a fiancée but still wavered.

It was precisely because the main leads written by the author were so questionable5, when the super cool villain Jin Yang appeared later in the novel, many readers supported him.

It was just that after the storyline fell apart, the author abruptly ended the novel.
There was no proper closure.
Yin Yiliu had no idea what had happened after the female lead’s ‘predictive’ ability disappeared.

She shook her head.
If the reborn female lead was a ‘prophet’, did that make her, the reader who had read the whole novel, a ‘prophet’ as well?

However, she and Jin Yang had no intentions of travelling north, so they had no chance of encountering the opportunities mentioned in the novel.

While Yin Yiliu was looking at Liu Zhen, Liu Zhen was observing them as well.

When her gaze fell on Jin Yang, her eyes brightened due to his handsome looks and superior aura.

Jin Yang’s aura was developed over the years he had spent working in the business world.
Even if he was just sitting quietly in a wheelchair and holding his cute little rabbit, his presence was not to be looked down upon.

On the contrary, Xiang Yingzhuo had not experienced the hardships of the apocalypse yet.
He had the impulsiveness of a young man and the rebelliousness of a rich second generation, which was a stark contrast to Jin Yang.

In the novel, Liu Zhen and Xiang Yingzhuo had formed a strong bond from going through all sorts of difficulties together.
As a result, when they met Jin Yang in the later days, Liu Zhen was not attracted to him.
In fact, she was completely on the male lead’s side.

But this was only the beginning of the apocalypse.
The plot was disrupted by Yin Yiliu’s appearance.
Liu Zhen met Jin Yang in advance and was thus interested in him.

She looked at Jin Yang’s legs and knew that the man must have had some good opportunities later in life, because the Jin Yang who single-handedly messed up an entire survivor base in her previous life couldn’t have been a cripple.

If she could lend a helping hand when he was at his lowest, would he remember her kindness?

Liu Zhen had been really annoyed by Li Yingying for the past few days, and the more she looked at Xiang Yingzhuo, the more she wondered if she should reconsider her decision to join Xiang Yingzhuo’s team.

While Jin Yang was all alone, except for…

A rabbit?

Liu Zhen didn’t mind the mutated animal at all.
She simply thought it was just an animal that Jin Yang had tamed.

Yin Yiliu was completely unaware that the female lead was having designs on the Big Golden Thigh that she had worked so hard to raise.
She rested in Jin Yang’s arms, ignoring the resentful and malicious stares.
She kept looking back and forth between the male and female leads, but sensed no ambiguity between them.

The commander of the 8th Unit was a middle-aged man with a few strands of grey hair.
He had never shown his evolved abilities in front of everyone, but everyone could tell from the previous hunting activities that he was definitely not an ordinary person.

After the situation was under control, the commander turned to face the figure in the centre of the whirlpool.
His ever-serious face softened slightly as he extended his hand to Jin Yang.

“Uncle Ming,” Jin Yang said, shaking his hand.

Qian Ming was very pleased to see Jin Yang.
He was promoted by Jin Yang’s father when he was young, and he had always remembered his kindness.
He hadn’t expected to see his old friend’s descendant during the apocalypse.

“Your legs?” He glanced at Jin Yang’s legs without daring to inquire further.
But when he saw Jin Yang nodded slightly, he was overjoyed because he knew that Jin Yang’s legs must have recovered within the past few days.

The two exchanged only a few sentences, but the faces of Xiang Yingzhuo and his teammates turned livid.

This person acted indifferent towards them the whole time, but he was so friendly towards Jin Yang.
What was he trying to imply?!

After talking about their current situation, Qian Ming offered Jin Yang,”Do you want to go to City B with us?”

Jin Yang shook his head, pointing to the map on the desk.
“We are going to City Z,” he said, his long finger tapping on one of the largest circled survivor bases.

Qian Ming was a little regretful, but he didn’t say anything.

” ”

Hearing this, Hong Ming and the others behind Xiang Yingzhuo felt relieved.
If they had to travel together with Jin Yang for a few months, Bro Xiang would definitely go berserk…

Yin Yiliu had been acting obediently as a harmless little cutie until she heard the word ‘we’.
She twitched her ears in delight.

Big Golden Thigh had already regarded her as his buddy!

The author has something to say: Officially departing the next chapter! New friends will be introduced! ww
